Infinitesimal Calculus (Infi) 3 (201-1-0031)

Administrative Matters

The FINAL GRADE in the course will be calculated as follows:
The Best Mid Term Test out of Two: 30%,
           Homework Assignments: 10%,
           Final Exam: 60%.

If you cannot or could not attend one of the midterms due to a justified reason (reserve service, hospitalization, time conflict with another test), please notify your lecturer at once. The grade of the missing midterm will be replaced by a simple average between the grade of the other midterm and the grade of the final exam.

The homework assignments have to be submitted in the classroom on the due date.

Homework Assignments

Review Homework Assignment on Topology of Normed Vector Spaces, not for submission.

Homework Assignment No. 1 (complete and final version), to be submitted on Thursday, November 15.
Submission postponed till the first class upon the resumption of studies.
Submission further postponed till Monday, December 3.

Homework Assignment No. 2 (finalized version), Problems 1-8 and Problems 9-12, to be submitted on Monday, December 24.
Notice: one direction of Problem 10 (A = B^T J B implies A has n_+ positive eigenvalues and n_- negative eigenvalues) is a bonus problem; if you solve it correctly you can get extra two points in your final grade.

Homework Assignment No. 3 (finalized version), Problems 1-11 (Extrema, Inverse and Implicit Function Theorems, Lagrange Multipliers) and Problems 12-20 (Manifolds), to be submitted on Monday, December 31.
Submission postponed - details will follow.

Homework Assignment No. 4.

Homework Assignment No. 5, preliminary version.
