Our ICIP '15 code defaults to hexagons.
The user may opt to use squares instead.
The implications of each choice are detailed in our README file.
In short, hexagons lead to more visually pleasing results; squares lead to 
somewhat better results on the benchmarks. 
The results in our paper were obtained using hexagons.
