6th International Summer School on Distributed Computing

The International Summer School on Distributed Computing is supported  by the University  of Siena  and  the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche . It is intended primarily for graduated students and researchers interested in specializing in the research field of Distributed Algorithms, as weel as for professionals interested  in learning the current research directions and problems. Each course comprises of formal lecture  periods  and  of directed study-discussion  periods.  Upon  request, students  may  be graded for proficency in any of the courses.

Location

The  school  will  take  place  at  Isola d'Elba,  famous for its white sand, deep blue sea, and fascinating nature. The distance from the mainland is about 10 Km, with a total surface of 224 sq. Km., Elba is the biggest island  of the Tuscan Archipel and the third of the Italian islands.

Registration

Registration fee (including half  board  accomodation  at the Hotel Hermitage) is Italian Liras  2,000,000 ( Italian Liras 1,600,000 for full time students). Subject  to funding availability, a limited number  of  scholarships will be granted. Attendance is limited to a maximum of 40 persons.

How to Reach Elba

Elba can be easily reached from Piombino Marittima by train, from Piombino by ferry-boats. Elba has an Airport located at Marina di Campo, the two closest ones in the mainland are in Pisa and Florence. In case you arrive by car, please consult this map.
