Execvp() Question

When calling execvp() all signals are set to their default action. The bit that specifies whether to ignore he signal or not is preserved. why?

Basically because it is possible. Unlike the handlers which now point to an irrelevant location, these bits could still be used. Thus, allowing us more variety in behavior.
