Description of the course

The course is a mini-project.
The students have to design, build and program robot.
The project involves quite a bit of real-time programming issues, as well as interface to sensors and actuators.
The work is in 3-4 students groups, all the groups receive the same project, based in the construction of a robot using the LEGO-based kit.
The programming uses an interface that utilize C language interface.
Groups will then compete in the competition near the end of the semester.

Class hours: Tuesday 8-10.
Location: First 4 weeks in the classroom, after in the robotics lab, building 58 - room 218
Requirements: Attendance of initial session, participation in all events. Timely submission of reports and partial products.
Weeks 1-4: Introduction to material, team formation (10%).
Weeks 6, 8: Robot basic capability tests (30%).
Weeks 13,14: Competitions (60%).
Every team must participate in both the preliminary rounds in week 13, and final rounds in week 14.
Credits: 2 (for participation + 125-150 work-hour project p. student).
Relevant books: Robot kit manual.
Artificial intelligence literature, e.g. Russell and Norvig
